"I go to Cornwall a lot and in particular the areas around St Ives and Fowey. I always make sketches and take photographs while I'm there, which I refer to when I get back home to paint. Unfortunately the light where I live cannot compare to that of Cornwall so I think of these paintings more as memories of what it felt like to be there. I often sketch in watercolours but usually prefer oils for finished pieces."
