Handmade Kurinuki Boxes
Handmade Kurinuki Boxes
Stock number: CE38212
These clay treasure boxes were made using the traditional Japanese Kurinuki technique that involves carving into a solid block of raw clay and then scooping out the clay to form an interior. Ceramicist Lori Shaul then texturises the lid with washed up coral fragment or by shaping a fossil and colouring it with copper oxide before firing to 1260 degrees centigrade.
