Set of four original fibreglass weave DSR side chairs designed by Charles and Ray Eames and made by Herman Miller (each chair bears the original stamp on the underside of the shell. These iconic Fifties chairs feature the Eiffel base with the original screws and shock mounts.

The design for this chair was originally entered in the International Competition for Low-Cost Furniture Design organised by MOMA in New York in 1948. It won second prize. In the search for materials that met the criteria for mass production, the Eames's settled on glass-fibre reinforced polyester resin. Fibreglass offered the added advantage of pleasantly tactile qualities and a perfectly moulded form for optimal comfort. Later editions made by Vitra featured polypropylene plastic seats.
