Albert Huyot was the son and grandson of artists and trained uder Gustave Moreau at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts alongside Henri Matisse, Georges Rouault and Albert Marquet. He first worked in a post-Impressionist manner before moving towards Cubism around 1912-1920. He exhibited regularly at the Salon des Independants, the Salon d'Automne and the Salon des Tuileries as well as at the Galerie Druet (1921) and Galerie Berthe Weill (1926). His main output focussed mostly on small-format work and so this large, dated, thematically rich work from 1933 is unusual in his documented oeuvre
