Sunlight Soap Stick Stand
Late 20th-century black painted cast iron Biclam Foundry soap advertising umbrella or walking stick stand with great attention to detail and in excellent condition. The top detailed 'Sunlight Soap', the base detailed 'Lifebuoy Soap, Royal Disinfectant'.
The Biclam Foundry, established in 1886 in Ardwick Manchester, was mainly a fireplace foundry operating in the mid to late Victorian early Edwardian period.
Sunlight household soap was introduced by Lever Brothers in 1884 and was the world's first packaged, branded laundry soap. Lifebuoy, a carbolic soap, was introduced by Lever Brothers in 1895.
