Set of twelve Rowland Ward crystal wine glasses
Rowland Ward Kenyan «African Big Game» series etched crystal wine glasses cut by Moser, a well-regarded manufacturer of fine quality luxury crystal and stemware founded in 1857.
Rowland Ward Ltd. of Piccadilly was a British taxidermy company specializing in African big game animals. The company also retailed hi-end safari-themed items like fine cut crystal glassware, artworks, books and prints.
The glasses, ca. 1960s, are engraved with an «African Big Game» safari theme based on animals found in the game reserves of Kenya. The glass was handblown, hand-cut with a copper wheel engraving technique, and hand-polished by Moser.
A different animal is etched on each glass: sable antelope (2), cape buffalo (2), elephant (2), lion (2), rhino (2) and giraffe (2), with Roland Ward Nairobi Kenya mark to the foot of each glass, 17cm high.
