John Stanton Ward (R.A.) (British, 1917-2007), Harbour View, Ravello, watercolour, pen and ink, inscribed signed and dated 1951, framed 27cm x 43cm
Ward was an R.A. however he was one of four artists to resign from the Royal Academy in 1997 on account of the Sensation exhibition of young British artists.
Described in The Guardian obituary as an ‘establishment painter par excellence’, Ward is best known for his portraits of royalty.
